What if your Stop adapted to volatility… but your risk didn’t?
A 10-tick Stop doesn’t mean the same thing in every market condition.
When volatility is low, it may be unnecessarily wide.
When volatility expands, that same 10-tick Stop may suddenly become too tight.
That creates a bigger problem: if your Stop changes but your contract size doesn’t, your actual dollar risk changes too.
That’s the problem ATR Ordering is designed to solve.
Instead of keeping the Stop fixed, ATR Ordering works the other way around:
Fixed Dollar Risk → ATR-based Stop → Dynamic Position Size → Automatic Target
You define just 3 things in advance:

Then, when the order actually fills, ATR Ordering reads the current ATR and automatically calculates the Stop distance, Target, and appropriate contract size – including commission in the sizing calculation.
So when volatility increases, your Stop can expand while position size decreases. When volatility contracts, the Stop can tighten while position size adjusts accordingly.
The goal isn’t to make every trade the same.
It’s to make your risk discipline consistent even when the market isn’t.
And because the calculations happen at the actual fill, this also works with pending orders – useful when you don’t want to sit in front of the chart waiting for price to reach your entry.
